THE ISLAND OF BERGEGGI
The island of Bergeggi - or of Sant'Eugenio - is located just off the mainland; it is a suggestive complex of limestone rock up to 53 meters high and an ideal destination for lovers of diving thanks to the clarity of the sea water and the seabed rich in marine fauna and flora.
WHAT TO DO IN BERGEGGI
Those who want to get to the island of Bergeggi should not have any fear of getting lost or finding directions. The island resort, located in the beautiful Riviera di Ponente, is in fact a short distance from the town of Bergeggi, and is part of a regional nature reserve for the protection of flora and fauna. Those who want to immerse themselves in Ligurian nature can leave by car and follow the A10 motorway.
HOW TO REACH US
Those who want to get to the island of Bergeggi should not have any fear of getting lost or finding directions. The island resort, located in the beautiful Riviera di Ponente, is in fact a short distance from the town of Bergeggi, and is part of a regional nature reserve for the protection of flora and fauna. Those who want to immerse themselves in Ligurian nature can leave by car and follow the A10 motorway. To get to the island of Bergeggi you can in fact use your own vehicle and take the Autostrada dei Fiori, which leads from Genoa to Ventimiglia. Once in the province of Savona, the reference exit is that of Spotorno, a town where some of the most famous Ligurian beaches of Ponente are located. At this point you take the impressive state road 1, also known as Via Aurelia, and travel a bit 'of Savona coast before heading out to Bergeggi.
GENOVA'S PESTO
Pesto Genovese is one of the most used condiments in the world to season pasta. Its origin is very far in time and probably derives from a chopped garlic used in Roman times, which has been flavored with basil leaves. Over the years it has been enriched with other ingredients such as cheese and pine nuts.
LIGURIA'S FISH
The types of fishing practiced in Liguria are fishing with nets, for the capture of anchovies and sardines, trawling, especially squid, cuttlefish and sole of which Liguria is very rich, nets, for fishing for hake, goggles. Beach trawler mainly for the traditional fishing of sandeel and whitebait.
LIGURIA'S DESSERTS
The amaretto of Sassello and Savona and the Sacripantina cake, which takes its name from Sacripante, the character of Orlando Furioso, la Pànera, a soft cream of coffee and cream prepared by hand, the Baci di Alassio, canestrelli, Baci di Sambuco, gubeletti, mix, caporali, anicini, amaretti, krumiri and many others.
